GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — A company headquartered in Ann Arbor is putting down roots in northern Michigan.
EOTech is a leading manufacturer of optics for small weapon sights.
The company is establishing new operations in Traverse City.
EOTech is getting settled into its new building on Traverse Field Drive.
The new expansion is expected to bring 165 new jobs to the area.
“This is a great example of the tech trade and creative jobs that we have been targeting here in this region,” said Warren Call, President and CEO of Traverse Connect.
EOTech’s chief technology officer Dean Loebig said 70 people will be hired by this fall. He said the company plans to hire 50 employees every year for the next few years.
“We want to see jobs that pay well, jobs that create value and innovation and creative technologies and things that we can produce here with great people and great minds and export out to the world,” said Call.
Traverse City was chosen over a competing site in Ohio.
Loebig said at the end of the day, it was important for the company to stay in Michigan. He said expanding operations to northern Michigan was an easy choice from him.
The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $9.6 million.
“It’s a testament to the entrepreneurial ecosystem that we have built here and we are prepared to support entrepreneurs and new businesses as they come,” said Call.
Loebig said EOTech supports the personal growth of their employees and they focuses heavily on hiring veterans and people with disabilities.
He said EOTech is now hiring at the new Traverse City location.
