- A new coffee shop called A.M. Buzz is opening that along with coffee offers a $5 breakfast sandwich and additional discounts for some downtown workers.
The grand opening of downtown Detroit’s A.M. Buzz Detroit Coffee Shop and Cafe is set for Monday, July 7.
This new spot at Third and Lafayette has inside service as well as an outside walk-up window. It will offer an array of signature espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches, acai bowls, floats and grab-and-go lunches.
The establishment is all about community as well as great coffee, its owners say.

“From our $5 Brekkie deals to the Coffee to Cocktails happy hour and weekly appreciation days, we’ve built this cafe to give back to the people who power Detroit,” co-owner Christopher Kouza said in a news release. The Brekkie is a sandwich on an English muffin, bagel or French toast with egg, cheese and bacon or sausage.
Detroit’s A.M. Buzz, at 600 W. Lafayette at Third Street, also plans Community Appreciation Discount Days this summer. From July 21 through Aug. 31, workers in various capacities can get a free drip coffee and special discounts on designated days. Here’s the lineup:
- Mondays: Rocket Mortgage employees
- Tuesdays: First responders
- Wednesdays: Educators and students
- Thursdays: Local government employees (city, county, clerks)
- Fridays: Volunteers and nonprofit workers
On Thursday’s beginning July 10, A.M. Buzz will partner with Cibo Detroit and Cielo Detroit Rooftop, to offer guests an all-day downtown happy hour with discounts on coffee, cocktails and small plates.
A.M. Buzz will be open daily 6 a.m.- 2 p.m. For information, visit AMBuzzDetroit.com.
