The Streets of Caledonia multi-use development at Route DD and Interstate 64 continues to grow.
On May 23, the O’Fallon City Council approved three bills authorizing the construction of a 102-room upscale Cambria Hotel, with a golf simulator, fast food restaurant, Italian restaurant and bar, on 3.35 vacant acres at 210 and 220 Rush Way in the Streets of Caledonia. The contract purchaser is Joseph Caradonna Caledonia Real Estate LLC in Clawson, Michigan.
The property has soccer fields adjacent to the south, Caledonia Center Common Ground to the east, a recently approved dental building to the west and a vacant property to the north.
The council voted 9-0 to approve three bills, with council member Lisa Thompson (Ward 2) absent/excused. One bill rezones the land from C2/General Business District to C3/Highway Commercial District, the second grants a conditional use permit (CUP) to allow the hotel and the third grants a CUP to Five Iron Golf to allow indoor recreation, the golf simulator facility, on the property.
The applicant’s supporting documentation says the hotel will include a business center, meeting rooms, an indoor heated pool, and a fitness center. Hotel guests and community members will be able to enjoy the golf simulator, two full-service restaurants, bars (one on the first floor and one on the top floor), and a fast-food restaurant that also serves as the hotel bodega. Meeting rooms will also be available for local residents to lease for events.
The fast-food type of restaurant will operate seven days per week between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. and will not serve liquor.
Documents for Five Iron Golf Golf state the business started with one location in New York on Fifth Avenue in the Flatiron District – the origin of the name. Since then, it has expanded nationwide across ten major U.S. cities with over 20 locations, with international franchise locations in Singapore and India.
For casual golfers, Five Iron provides access to play, practice and party. For the serious golfer, it provides Trackman simulators, access to teaching professionals, practice time, leagues, club storage and showers. Food and beverages are available, including adult beverages.
Hours of operation will be 6 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
